How numerology compatibility works

Numerologists compare two people by their life path numbers, the number each full date of birth reduces to. Numbers that share a rhythm are read as natural matches: the talkers (3, 5) with each other, the builders (4, 8) with each other, the carers (2, 6) with each other. Numbers that want different things are read as demanding: a 1 who leads and an 8 who also leads, a 4 who plans and a 5 who leaves. Everything else is workable, which is most pairs.

Master numbers are read on their base for this purpose (11 as 2, 22 as 4, 33 as 6), with the note that the master-number partner tends to feel the relationship more intensely. The calculator works both numbers out from two dates and sends you to the right pair.

Questions people ask

Which life path numbers are most compatible?
In the Pythagorean tradition the easiest pairs are 1 and 3, 1 and 5, 2 and 4, 2 and 6, 2 and 8, 3 and 5, 3 and 6, 3 and 9, 4 and 6, 4 and 7, 4 and 8, 5 and 7, 5 and 9, 6 and 8, 6 and 9, and 7 with 7. Each pair page explains why, and the calculator works out two dates at once.
Which life path numbers should avoid each other?
The tradition calls 1 and 4, 1 and 8, 2 and 5, 3 and 4, 3 and 8, 4 and 5, 4 and 9, 5 and 6, 6 and 7, 7 and 8, and 8 and 9 demanding. Demanding means the temperaments pull in different directions, not that the relationship fails; the pair pages say where the work is.
Is numerology compatibility accurate?
It is a tradition, not a measurement. Nobody has shown that birth dates predict how two people get on, and this site does not claim they do. What the pages offer is a structured way to talk about two temperaments, which couples often find useful whatever they think of the numbers.
