What a life path number is
Of the five core numbers in Pythagorean numerology, the life path is the one everybody starts with. It comes from the full date of birth, which is why it cannot change. The tradition reads it as the pattern a life keeps returning to: the strengths you were born with, the situations that test them, and the kind of work and partner that fit.
The system was set out in its modern form by L. Dow Balliett and her student Juno Jordan in the early twentieth century, drawing on the number meanings attributed to Pythagoras. That is the version almost every book and website uses today, and the one this site uses, so a date gives the same number here as it would anywhere else that keeps the master numbers.
