What a personal year 6 means
After the 5 year has moved everything, the 6 year puts it back in order. The tradition reads a personal year 6 as the year of home and responsibility. The year people marry, move in together, have children, buy the house, take on the care of a parent or discover that the family needs more of them than it did. Numerologists describe it as the warmest year of the cycle and the heaviest, because being needed is both.
The number carries the reading. Six is the digit of home, care and duty, and a 6 year is that digit applied to a year of life. The number 6 page describes the digit on its own. This page describes the year.
How to know if 2027 is your 6 year
Reduce your day and month of birth to single digits and add them to the universal year. 2027 is 2 + 0 + 2 + 7 = 11 → 2, so 2027 is a personal year 6 for anyone whose day and month add to 4 or to 13. 3 January is 3 + 1 + 2 = 6, and 2 February is 2 + 2 + 2 = 6.
4 September is 4 + 9 + 2 = 15 → 6, and 12 January is 3 + 1 + 2 = 6. The calculator shows the sum for any date. This site turns the year over on 1 January.
What the year tends to bring
The tradition’s picture of a 6 year is domestic. Family comes to the front: a wedding, a birth, a parent who needs help, a child who needs more, a house that needs buying or mending. Friends bring their troubles, because a person in a 6 year is read as the one everyone leans on. Work matters less than it did, or matters differently, as the thing that supports the home rather than the thing that defines the year.
What numerologists warn about is the 6’s shadow. A 6 year can tip into martyrdom, in which every responsibility is taken on and none is shared, and into interference, in which looking after people becomes running their lives. The advice the tradition gives is to tell the two kinds of responsibility apart: the ones that are yours, which a 6 year rewards you for meeting, and the ones that are not, which it will hand you anyway.
A 6 year in love
This is the year the tradition associates most with commitment. Couples are told it is the year for the decision they have been circling: to marry, to move in, to have the child, to buy the place. Single people are told it is a good year to meet someone who wants the same things, and a poor year for anything casual, since the 6’s pull is towards settling. The warning is the 6’s: a relationship can be smothered by care in a 6 year, and the partner being looked after can start to feel managed. Love in a 6 year is read as service, and service needs to be asked for.
A 6 year at work and with money
Work in a 6 year is read as steady and secondary. It is not the year for the risky move. That was the 5, and the 7 and 8 are coming.
It is the year people describe as working to support something, and the tradition reads jobs in care, teaching, hospitality and anything that looks after people as going particularly well. Money in a 6 year is read as going on the home: the house, the wedding, the family, the repairs, with the advice to budget for the large domestic cost in advance because the year will produce one. None of this is financial advice.
How to use a 6 year
The tradition’s advice is in three parts. Make the commitment, if there is one waiting, because this is the year the cycle gives you for it. Look after the people who are yours to look after, and let them see it. And keep one evening a week for yourself, because the 7 year that follows will demand solitude and a 6 year that gave all of it away leaves nothing to start the 7 with. The personal year 7 page describes that turn inward, and the personal year 5 page describes the changes this year is settling.
